Workflowz attended the XMPie User Group (XUG) 2020 in Dallas from 24-26 Feb, where a host of XMPie specialists imparted their wisdom through business, technical and product tracks. Across a packed two day agenda, XMPie users were treated to presentations on several topics and release updates including Designing for uStore – a procurement and web2print platform and the impressive Video Personalisation Service (XVS)
Our very own people pleasing presenter, Alan Dixon, portrayed a perfect presentation on packaging (phew!) with his super knowledge of the XMPie software.
Let’s talk about some of the more important ‘P’ words he discussed:
- Packaging – it is much more than boxes, consider labels, shrink sleeves, pouches etc
- Prominence – it’s everywhere, so get it right
- Personalisation – including VDP, customisations and versioning
- Preview pre-production and impose for production
- Powerful print possibilities
The end-to-end steps of designing packaging, creation of models, brief requirements and production methods are the same for every product. Having the ability to refine these processes, avoid costly mistakes and proof faster could reduce lead times and costs.
So, think outside the box!
Remember packaging can be fun, there are always new opportunities to explore and it is something anyone can do with the right software and training.
